The Western Kentucky database was created in 2016. With permission from a multitude of funeral home owners and assistance from local colleges, universities, and libraries, the Browning Family Foundation scans and indexes obituary information. Thus, obituaries in their original format can be viewed on this database. The Western Kentucky Obituary Database includes 20 different counties covering various time periods. These counties include Breckinridge, Bullit, Butler, Crittenden, Daviess, Edmonson, Grayson, Hancock, Hardin, Hart, Henderson, Larue, Livingston, McLean, Meade, Muhlenberg, Nelson, Ohio, Union, And Webster. The resources of 30 Funeral homes and 12 Newspapers provided 26,000 obituaries.
John Dowell and his team plan to add more counties in 2018. The marriage records will be added into a searchable Western Kentucky Marriage Records database in 2018. Daviess Co., KY marriage records will start from October 2, 1920 and progress forward. Ohio Co., KY marriage records will start with July 5, 1899 and go backward in time. We will continue to add the additional 13 KY county marriage records as time and resources allow.
